FFA121: Facial Expressions (Squash & Stretch)

WEEK 6

This is my drawing of my friend's facial expressions (my sister's, actually)

In our class, we had to draw on people's facial expressions. We learnt about the squash and stretch method in class which also represents the 12 main principles of Animation. I decided to go with the closest person, sitting right next to me that is my sister, Batrisyia binti Zulkifli.

It is quite normal for her to make funny & interesting looking faces since both of us watch a lot of cartoons since we were little and she also does not mind me drawing her in a cartoony style (her tolerance level is very good too).

These are my drawings of her facial expressions based on pictures she has given to me.

1. Grinning Sister
2. Sad Sister
3. Pretty yet Scary Sister

I think this is a nice way of practicing 'squash and stretch' in animation, it may not turn out right at the first attempt but soon and with more practices, we can draw anything using the squash and stretch method with ease.

FFA121: Character Design (Storyboard)

PART 1

Basically for this week's class, we were told to present our sketches for our storyboard class as both of the classes are connected in the making of our one major assignment. This is the side character sketches for my group's storyboard entitled 'DEATHLESS'.

It is a story of Heather, a depressed, young lady who blamed herself for her father's tragic death to the point where she decided to commit suicide one day. In confusion, no blood came out and the Grim Reaper appears before her, telling her she is immortal & that she has to find her life's purpose in order to reclaim her right to die. After the incident occured, Heather finds herself following a poor, homeless boy named Jaiden around until she decides to take care of the boy. Years later, Heather finally meets again with the Grim Reaper as she was reaped out of her life on Jaiden's 25th birthday party. At the end, the Grim Reaper left no traces of Heather behind (including Heather's dead body) which made Jaiden cry heavily & subconsciously during the happy celebration, indicating he seems to forget something very dear to him.

I took the role of drawing Heather's father who is the supporting character of our group's story. He serves as the reason for Heather's depression and suicidal act as he died, trying to save her from falling off a train platform when she was young. Heather blamed herself for years and soon wanting to commit suicide.

FFA124 (Week 6) - Bouncing Ball (Squash Ball)

WEEK 6

My thoughts on our class has always been the same; fun & full of new things to learn. Love every class, I have to say. This time around, we have to do an animation of a squashy/squishy/squash ball. (haha lol) I was excited doing this in class, even when I was at home editing the video & putting in all the sound effects. I've edited a few videos prior to this one especially in adding the sound effects and audio so it may not be astounding as much. Well, at least I had fun doing it.

It was quite stressful since other assignments come barging in our already busy schedule every day. It was tough, hard and stressful although I really enjoyed making this animation with roughly 7-9 hours of animating & editing the whole video with sound effects and audio. Hope you like it.

P.S. I'm sorry since I'm currently under the weather the past few days & was only able to perform this much. I'll strive for the best for the next assignment, InsyaAllah.

FFA124 (Week 5) - Bouncing Ball (Ping Pong)

Week 5

I present to you, my progression of our new assignment, 'Bouncing Ball (Ping Pong)'~ I'm getting the hang of it lately, which is good. I've also taken time from my busy schedule to update my videos & on blog.

I feel quite refreshed learning something new every week despite our busy schedules which is common for all college students. I wasn't really fond of physics until I went to this lecture. I guess I could say I feel happier than when I'm at home, stuck doing assignments by other lecturers and classes respectively. A very productive way to get my head out of the hustle & bustle of my busy, everyday life.

I was thinking of doing short animations for fun but I have had a hard time getting my schedule in the correct order as things always keep coming in instead of getting them done and out of my timetable.

I'm having fun with the software we're using for the animation videos although I haven't really thought of any creative twists for my videos. I'll think of something eventually, but in the meantime, I have prepared an updated version on my blog here as well as on my YouTube channel.

I will post the latest video on my YouTube channel & also links below from time to time.

FFA124 (Week 4) - Pendulum With Tail

Week 4

Here's my finished product on YouTube. I posted this later than expected and I apologize for that.
Please feel free to comment on the YouTube videos I've posted. I'm still a university student but I'll try my best, improve and post my progress (videos) weekly mainly on this blog & on my YouTube channel. :)

FFA124 (Week 3) - Pendulum

Week 2

This is my final piece for my first assignment for 2D Animation class which was the 'Pendulum'.
I was quite nervous coming to the first class on Week 1 but we've been assigned the course outline. (There's not much but course outlines and the whole semester syllabus)

I had fun making the short animation of the basic pendulum swing; a lot of hard work, I have to say. I'm quite blessed to have help from others including advice from my prestigious lecturer, Miss Nelysa, and my peers in Group B to get the basics down. I had fun because I didn't have to stress my shoulders too much due to stress but instead, having a good time animating the basics with the equal amount of laughter, fun and seriousness in the class.

See you guys on the next blog~
