FFA121: Cartoon & Caricatures

MY FRIENDS - FINAL PRODUCT

 WEEK 4
A few days ago, we were assigned to draw a caricature of a friend in the class. To be honest, I've avoided realism because I'm really bad at it (Reallly bad! Yabai!). I was quite shocked actually but I wouldn't learn if I can't even draw a single caricature in my whole entire life. Like the people would say, "you'll never know until you try it". I'd never thought I would do this, actually but... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! (one way or another!)

DURING CLASS~
I've decided to draw my sister first since she was the closest to me right then and also the closest to my heart ;) Also, I've taken the permission of my best friend, Atikah Zafirah  as my caricature subject just for practice. I drew the first picture down below which was the 'DRAFT' for less than 2 hours. Despite that, the class was cut short because all of us were only assigned to draw 1 caricature of our classmate/friend for the week, which can be easily done at home (given that pics on phones & classmates are roommates whatnot). Being a 'good student', I stayed back with several people including my friends, my sister, Atikah and some other people. (don't know who else there, lol)

AT HOME~
I wanted to do 2 caricatures of 2 different people, so I did a caricature for my dearest of friends, Atiqah Zafirah.
Here's my sister & Atikah (I call her by her nickname, Kouhai). Drawing them with semi-realism hit me hard like truck! I gotta be honest I'm quite happy last night finishing the Outline 1. It took me roughly 9+ hours to get to this point which is the Outline + Colour.
It's still a work in progress, not to mention I'm still learning how to use colours. I sound just like a 5 year old who doesn't know how to use pencil colours... Photoshop is new to me, so please bear with me.

FINISHED ONE (PADLET)
Although I'm new to this peculiar art style, I will do my best in making the finished product. Keep in mind, I'll update my posts weekly. If there's anything you'd like to say & maybe can help me regarding ART, please comment down below. I'll try my best in following your advice. Thank you~

WEEK 3:

It was fun, I've log in just now to share with you my final product of the exercise we had to do for Week 3.
It was somewhat, oddly hard for me to turn basic shapes to characters since I've already adapted myself to draw 'FREESTYLE~'

What I've learnt, huh? A LOT especially since I tried first hand in using (still) Photoshop. Forgive me for my curiosity & for using an utterly different software for school work. I'm too adventurous, what can I say?

I've decided to do 2 sets of 3 Characters using basic shapes as the basic (?). I got to say, IT'S A TON OF FUN! I love my experience of making characters from shapes. I used CIRCLE, SQUARE & TRIANGLE for the 1st set. (Pictures above)

For the 2nd set, I used CIRCLE, RECTANGLE &TRIANGLE as the animal characters' basic shapes.
Being tired is just a mental thing to me when making these, although I've been suffering from insomnia these past few weeks (sorry4that, I'll recover though). I had fun making these characters, and hope to do better in the next exercise/assignment.

1st set: CIRCLE, SQUARE & TRIANGLE
2nd set: CIRCLE, RECTANGLE & TRIANGLE

FFA121 Cartoon & Character Design

CIRCLES

What Have I Learnt Today?
I've learnt how to use a Wacom in class using Adobe Photoshop CS6 for the first time. As instructed by our lecturer, Miss Norhasheila Muharam, my friends and I started learning throughout the class on how to use the brush, eraser, making a new canvas, also How-to's & Not-to's (like DO NOT USE the BACKGROUND LAYER as the LAYER TO DRAW ON and others).

SQUARES

TRIANGLES

I continued to draw on my own after class as there was not enough time to practise & draw Circles, Squares & Triangles in 2 hours especially when using our Wacom in an actual class for the first time. To be honest, I'm having quite the time of my life learning how to use a new software like Adobe Photoshop now.

I can't wait for the next class. I hope I'll learn a lot in this course and do my best to keep up with my friends.
